Comptroller Schaefer Remarks On Legislative Audit of Revenue Administration Division

General Assembly Review Recommends Continued Improvement by State Tax Collection Agency

ANNAPOLIS, MD (December 27, 2006) - Comptroller William Donald Schaefer today issued the following comments on a legislative audit of his agency's Revenue Administration Division (RAD), dated Friday, Dec. 15, 2006. The report will be made available by the Office of Legislative Audits Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2006.

"I commend my Revenue Administration Division for its transparency in reporting and forthcoming, fact-based submissions of data," said Comptroller Schaefer. "The integrity of this administration can never be held in question, nor can its service to the taxpayers of Maryland."

The legislative audit was conducted during a period beginning Friday, Nov. 1, 2002, and ending Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006.

"The state's incoming comptroller will have an opportunity to improve upon a system already serving as a model for the rest of the country," added Comptroller Schaefer.
